چکیده
This paper presents a new approach for mitigating the unphysical delay in Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) to large-eddy simulation (LES) transition, often referred as gray area, which is common issue hybrid RANS–LES turbulence models such delayed-detached eddy simulation. An existing methodology designed improving LES performance complex flows adapted and tested. based on reducing numerical diffusion critical areas permitting more accurate development of turbulence. The formulation comprises both two-dimensional sensitive velocity gradient model an alternative definition subgrid length scale, are tested individually tandem, compared with other formulations commonly used addressing area. Four test cases examined, flat plate, two variants incompressible backward-facing step, open jet compressible case, all selected expose adverse impact that this study seeks address. Furthermore, proposed changes implemented different codes purpose cross-validation. Encouraging results observed, supporting suitability candidate area kind.

Detached-eddy Simulation: Current Status and Perspectives
Detached-Eddy Simulation (DES) is a hybrid technique proposed in 1997 as a numerically feasible and plausibly accurate approach for predicting massively separated flows. Since its inception the method has been applied to a range of configurations including simple shapes such as cylinders, spheres and aircraft forebodies, in addition to complex geometries including fighter aircraft. The accuracy...
متن کاملLocal Entropy Generation in Compressible Flow through a High Pressure Turbine with Delayed Detached Eddy Simulation
Abstract: Gas turbines are important energy-converting equipment in many industries. The flow inside gas turbines is very complicated and the knowledge about the flow loss mechanism is critical to the advanced design. The current design system heavily relies on empirical formulas or Reynolds Averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS), which faces big challenges in dealing with highly unsteady complex flow a...
متن کاملEvaluation of Detached Eddy Simulation for Turbulent Wake Applications
Simulations of a low-speed square cylinder wake and a supersonic axisymmetric base wake are performed using the Detached Eddy Simulation (DES) model. A reduced-dissipation form of the Symmetric TVD scheme is employed to mitigate the effects of dissipative error in regions of smooth flow. The reduceddissipation scheme is demonstrated on a 2D square cylinder wake problem, showing a marked improve...

This paper presents a strategy using a high fidelity delayed-detached-eddy simulation (DDES) to simulate 3-D fluid-structural interaction for predicting AGARD Wing 445.6 flutter boundary in a transonic flow. A dual-time step implicit unfactored Gauss-Seidel iteration with Roe scheme are employed for the flow solver. The special numerical techniques used herein include: a 5th order WENO scheme f...
متن کاملDetached-Eddy Simulation Based on the v-f Model
Abstract: Detached-eddy simulation (DES) based on the v-f Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) model is developed and tested. The v-f model incorporates the anisotropy of near-wall turbulence, which is absent in other RANS models commonly used in the DES community. The v-f RANS model is modi ed in order that the proposed v-f -based DES formulation reduces to a transport equation for the subgr...
